Growing up in 1950s - we ate simply basic 4 food groups. Food stuffs were mostly obtained from farms about 30 miles away.
Milk, veggies, and fruits were delivered by horse wagons.
My Mother did.have a chocolate 'fix' which was satiated by a neighbor who worked in Whitman's confectionery. Thankfully, these treats were discounted (seconds).
My Grandmother baked our breads, cakes. Irish bread with large raisins heaped with butter was our afternoon snack after walking home ~1 mile from school
We walked to and from school four times a day in all weather conditions.
Remembee only time staying home from school was in 1956 with blizzard of ~5 feet. Roads were not cleared for one week! Remember having lots of soups for meals...fresh foods could not be delivered!
Schhol.buses, cars were not seen on roads.
We were occupied with.Spring cleaning supervised by my Grandmother.
We polished floors with Simonize wax with elbow grease and furniture with Pride polish which required rubbing in tables, chairs till brilliant shine.
Who designed this link? It is certainly self defeating! I signed using one of the links provided by others here in the comments section! BTW It is GREAT to see Dr. Don Huber Professor Emeritus of Plant Pathology from Purdue University as the first signature!
Funny how RFK Jr. champions cracking down on synthetic food dyes but never mentions seedless fruits or genetically modified foods—guess some natural conspiracies are more equal than others.
I can't get the link to work to add my signature.
