I've gone back and forth on this a bit. First off I'd like to abolish prescriptions. Let everyone make up their own minds what poison they want to take.
Contrary to that is the concern that companies would sell dangerous drugs and foolish, naïve people would take them without having done proper research.
Ideally we might want a "highly recommended to check with a health care expert before taking this - it's dangerous" category of products.
If there were no longer any profit-motive to selling drugs--say, because Big Pharma, or even the entire medical-industrial cartel were nationalized--why would anyone make "dangerous" drugs? As things are now, there are plenty of dangerous drugs, which docs prescribe bcuz that's what they're taught to do, & ppl take those drugs bcuz they believe their docs, & here we are, w/ "medical error" being the top killer of Americans. Because nowhere in this for-profit medical hell is there any FINANCIAL INCENTIVE to keep anyone HEALTHY. How are ppl supposed to do their own research when medical journals are rife w/ flawed studies, conflicts-of-interest, and LIES, & the truth gets rigorously censored, cuz the same handful of ppl who own the medical-industrial complex also own the mass media, social media, & very nearly everything else?
Take away the profit motive and basically all productivity stops, no matter what business it is. That's what's wrong with socialism and why capitalist societies have a higher standard of living.
Nationalizing the medical system doesn't help, that just shifts the payer from the person receiving the services to the general taxpayer funding the government. In any nation (Canada, England, or wherever) that has national healthcare the MDs still earn an income. They will continue to peddle their snake oil to eager consumers who believe it is healthy.
To do your own research the best place to start is with books and organizations promoting better alternatives. Also getting down to studying fundamentals and doing independent thinking. Are humans really smarter than nature? If you believe that then keep giving your money to Big Pharma and the Industrial Medicine industry.
Which person (company) are you going to trust more? The one selling you a $10 product or the one selling you a $200 product?
Most other wealthy countries have socialized medicine & happen to be capitalist as well; they also have far less poverty and healthier, longer-lived populations, at half the expense per capita. (Perhaps "productivity" doesn't factor in those facts.) It is also possibly true that THEIR billionaires aren't as well-off as US billionaires. Read THE PROMISE OF EUROPE, e.g., or the works of Tomas Piketty. IMHO, how well socialized medicine works depends on how progressive its funding is &, of course, who the prime beneficiaries are. Canada & UK don't get the best results, probably because their taxation is still very regressive & their wealthiest get to opt out & buy private healthcare. In the US, the owners of the for-profit "healthcare" cartel are, of course, the prime beneficiaries of US "healthcare" laws. Only to be expected from a gov't of the 1%, by the 1%, and for the 1%.
I'm not an expert, but my understanding is pretty much that the USA's system is the worst. However the people I know in Canada and the UK *wish* they were in the USA because they see first hand just how terrible their healthcare systems are.
Norway and Sweden might be far better.
Until health care actually helps people to be healthy instead of just being "sick care" none of the systems will be good.
While efficiency and innovation are needed to improve healthcare, they cannot bring the change that is most needed, i.e. holistic options. It is treatment method that is undermining our health, esp in primary care.
RFK Jr analysis is spot on.! Physicians and pharmacists must take back their practice of medicine. Physicians must use their diagnostic skills for the benefit of the patient and not big Pharma. Pharmacist in turn should be the gatekeeper for preventing polypharmacy from controlling the health of seniors and others that are on multiple prescription products that are interfering with good health. Their other role is to be sure that they are not overdosed with medication which is so often the cause of falls and etc.
Knowing which over-the-counter drugs, the patient is taken as well as prescription drugs is vital to the health of the individual . This all starts at the grass roots level and not in Washington DC.. There is a movement a foot to bypass these vital medical safeguards and sell prescription drugs directly to the patient..This will cause great harm and the door has been opened because they have extended PERK till 2029! Trump administration needs to wake up to this fact, and even though their effort to reduce generic cost is admirable part of the deal is to find ways to provide drugs to more people and bypass normal safeguards! Wrong pathway!
RFK needs to make Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine over the counter, as they are in most of the world, including our neighbor Mexico.
He also needs to prohibit any mRNA vaccine from being on the childhood immunization schedule. How muck evidence is needed that the technology is harmful.
Make all off-patent drugs available to all doctors, including ND, NMD, to use these as THEY see fit, based on their patient's need.
Remove ALL regulations that restrict what what above doctors can do to actually help their patients heal.
Remove regs that allow drug reps to communicate directly with doctors, "train" doctors, and sell didrectly to doctors. Make all this illegal, with means to monitor and enforce.
Remove the GRAS designation IMMEDIATELY. Require placebo controlled studies for everything!! Especailly chemicals!
Remove ALL regs that allow direct to consumer advertiseing - TV, radio, internet & internet shows, podcast, etc. Allow only via doctor and patienet interaction.
really wanted to give feedback on this - it's a GREAT idea. Form to complete & process involved is WAY too time consuming and complicated for the average citizen!!! Very disappointed!
How about we stop pretending that HHS is useful, & just get rid of HHS, & take that money, & pay physicians to have a living while they use their best clinical judgment to take care of ppl who need healthcare?
It's a bit too bad that form is detailed. There are some simple changes that could easily be made with a huge impact:
a) Eliminate the "vaccine schedule"
b) Eliminate the "need" for an MD to obtain things like diagnostic tests.
c) Remove "prescription" status from some items like thyroid hormone.
Why have "prescription" status at all? Doesn't it exist just to give Big Pharma a monopoly on those drugs--so it can jack up the prices?

I second the Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine being over the counter!!! Incredibly expensive here if you get the prescription!
