In my work with children (in school, clinic and hospital environments) parents always appreciated my efforts to speak to them in their native language. Hearing RFK speak in Spanish was thoughtful and respectful. Antithetical to our recent Washington Administrations.
This Latino is leaning hard towards RFK Jr., and so is my family. I am not old enough to remember anything about the Kennedys besides what's in the history books. I know family means a lot to Bobby, the present candidate, but popular support he is receiving is because of him, not his Dad or uncle. They lend name recognition and the legacy of their impact on RFK Jr himself, but I'm looking at the man and I am impressed.
I, and Latino voters, are Americans (otherwise we couldn't vote, right?)--everyone seems to forget that. Immigration is not our greatest concern. Latinos have American concerns, especially economic issues. The lock down was devastating for workers and small businesses. Like other Americans, we are looking for the American Dream. Family is still important and we aren't very "woke."
Bobby will have to fight Trump (Sorry, Biden just can't keep up.) for our vote and I think one major concern is the future of Social Security. All the spending will have to come to an end, but will it come at the expense of working class Americans?
For a start, he speaks fluent Spanish. Also, Kennedy was close friends with Cesar Chavez and they worked together on many environment and pesticide issues concerning Hispanic communities.
KennKennedy connects with the Latino community because he has concrete plans for cleaning up the American economy and because he thinks about the minorities in this country.
Numerous interviews. It's clear you haven't looked. Paraphrasing: "Israel is the only democracy in the region. They guarantee the basic civil rights of their citizens. Etc..." I don't really agree, but I've said all I care to on the matter. I don't have to agree with every RFK position to support him.
I think you were just looking to stir the pot! Politicians get a lot of their ideas (most) from constituents, so it's totally appropriate for you to offer suggestions--if you really cared. You clearly don't have any and just wanted to play "gotcha." I also disagree, this is not "one of the most important foreign policy issues of our lifetime." Maintaining the reserve currency status of the dollar is the most important foreign policy issue of our lifetime.
A pressing issue, to be sure, but not the most pressing issue. It is not draining American coffers like Ukraine. Israelis are making the wrong choice, but admittedly there aren't a lot of good ones--at least not currently.
United States and RFK Jr by supporting the Israeli genocide is draining the United States of its moral authority world wide, the most pressing issue of out time. As Julian Macfarlane says, "...do not talk to me of greater and lesser evils —not in the face of abomination."
I am telling him what he should say. It's not enough for RFK Jr to once again say he supports the Israeli genocide. He must denounce that support if he wants my support and help to become President. I'm starting to wonder how he could denounce the genocide but still support Israel's existence since 90% of the Israeli population supports their ongoing genocide in Gaza. It's like saying you support the 1930s German people when there are pictures with so many of them sticking up their arms in a Nazi salute.
Pfff, he hasn't been silent. He has been largely pro-Israel, but he hasn't been strenuous about it. I think his relative silence is consistent with his focus on uniting issues over dividing ones. The topic is also absurdly controversial. It doesn't benefit the American electorate for "Bobby" to get mired in something he cannot actually decide on.
I think you should say what YOU think--if you know what should be done, then please share. I really don't like the way things are proceeding in Israel, and frankly, Gaza is currently part of Israel, so the characterization of hostilities there cannot be categorized as a war. If it is, then it is a totally inappropriate one. I also think there are a few problems that the media are intentionally ignoring.
1. Bibi Netanyahu: this guy make Trump look selfless. Despite the fact that Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, he really didn't like Netanyahu. Bibi is selfish, dumb and brutal. This is what American presidents have had to work with.
2. Biden: he never has a plan. His weak, indecisive approach has exacerbated so many issues, and his term is not done.
3. There are no easy answers. It would be nice if Israel accepted that it has acted in bad faith since the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, but clearly that's unlikely. Meanwhile, Israel is obliged to seek after the security of it's citizens. How would you have them do it? Btw, Hamas knew something like this could happen as a result of their actions, but they did it anyway.
excellent article that recognizes the potential of the Latino community and how it connects with Kennedy
Estaban --I wanted to ask if I could use this for my weekly newspaper in Yonkers, NY -thanks Dan Murphy Editor

Hello Estaban,
Excellent.
I've re-published two Kennedy Beacon articles so far on Kennedy Coalition, with the permission of the author. Using the Substack RSS feed.

Can I also please re-publish your article there?
Donald Trump brought us peace and prosperty thus is the best bet unless RFK Jr. would implement similar pollicies

I did google search and found more 9 speeches where he supports Israel since the Oct 7 attack. He doesn't even think Israel is an apartheid state.
You haven't been looking and I refer you back to my comment. Also noted, you've suggested no solutions.
I trust him completely! Can’t wait to vote for him!! #kennedy24
