Beautiful. A clear-eyed, big picture perspective Mr. Leake. Next, to get RFK on the ballot in TX (from a fellow Dallasite). Let this be a city that contributes to healing the tragedy of the past, and sets forth to create the rebirth on the horizon.
Despair and despondency is not an option. It’s time for us, Boomers and Gen X , to show what we’re made of. How lucky are we to have a leader, such as, Robert Kennedy jr, to champion our cause. Rise up mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. This is our time to do what we were born to do…take a step closer to that democratic ideal our forefathers laid out for us. I for one, will go out on a limb, doing all I can to get him (RFKjr) elected into office. It’s an honor and a privilege.
Thank you, John Leake! This is a wonderful, inspiring tribute to the man I believe can lead us out of the abyss and into a new dawn for our country. I pray constantly for God to protect him and all of his dear ones.
Great poem! More relevant to me now that I've almost 60 and entering my twilight years.
"... Gavin de Becker, gave a touching tribute in which he talked about the presidential candidate’s ... steadfast willingness to listen to other points of view, even if they challenge his own. 'Even if you don’t agree with all of his positions about everything, you can rest assured that Bobby will always strive to ascertain and tell the truth of any matter.' Though I don’t agree with all of the positions that Kennedy has stated over the years, I know from various reliable sources that he does indeed have a rare ability to consider new information and opinions."
...
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it does not appear that RFK has been willing to "listen to the the other points of view" when it comes to the Gaza Genocide. I wish, back in June, he would have taken up Max Blumenthal's offer to speak with him on about this issue.
This is only my personal speculation, and I can be entirely wrong; but what's the likely reaction from AIPAC if he were to abruptly reverse his position? He's already paying for protection, and it's a given there will be challenges to his ballot presence that will be costly. Can he, on top of that, afford to take on the bottomless pockets of AIPAC for what, at this point, would be essentially a symbolic gesture to accommodate those for whom the glaring genocide in another country seems to be more important than the slow one going on in our own? Because that's what I see—the elite democracy managers doing all they can to let as many of us die as they can. How long before they pick up what Canada's doing and encourage the "burdens on society" to embrace suicide?

"I’m sick of both men and wish they would retire instead of tormenting us all,” my mother said."
I think your mother speaks for millions of us.
The loathing of Trump is not irrational. it's a healthy response.
" Ulysses"
is absolutely one of my favorite poems.
Thank you.
Bobby, Happy Birthday! You are a very special soul. Thank you for choosing to incarnate at this time. 🥰🙏🕊

Guy,
60 is the new 40!
