It's so refreshing to hear a politician talk about issues that actually affect the lives of everyday Americans. And in a way that unifies and solves problems.
He's not creating anything new at all - these cards are already available through the United States Postal Service, at a $65 price tag. His proposal is to waive the fee. Easy peasy.
So it can become another line in the Fed. budget. You always pay - one way or the other. Bytheway I found a fee of $ 30 for Passport Cards, same as state-issued Real ID Cards.
Given that Real ID cards are issued by the States, it's not within the President's authority to waive the fee to issue those. The whole point is to make them available to those who can't afford even a $30 fee, or who can't travel to the DMV.

"People who cannot afford $ 30, cannot travel to a DMV." Something is wrong with your country.
Thank you for the info re. the fees.
"In some states, such as California, failure to produce an ID upon citation for any traffic infraction (such as riding a bicycle on the wrong side of a street) is sufficient justification for full custodial arrest." So despite the US saying it does not require people to always carry an ID document, you do require it ?
I think this is a great idea. It'll be interesting to see how the "new" version of the democratic party responds. Because, obviously these passports will be limited to American citizens, thereby eliminating the main concern about voter fraud on the right. If the Democrats push back, I think they will reveal their hand.
I was thinking about how the JFK administration was nicknamed Camelot, and this image popped into my head of Bobby as young King Arthur finally releasing Excalibur from the stone where it has been trapped since November 22, 1963.
The more Kennedy does to give freedom to citizens, the harder the system will fight him. You only have to look at the lunatic charges on Trump to see how the system punishes outliers. Kennedy - I hope you have a plan to difuse the evil tricks coming your way.
Wonderful idea! Just a thought. We are currently waiting too long, 4 months or more for a passport. How about hiring those currently on federal subsidies with stipulations of becoming “dependent free” in a time frame.

Amen, Andea! Well said.
Everyday US citizens.
I think this is great and shows we don't have to reinvent the wheel. Great work! Go Bobby!
Exactly, Linda!!

As linked in the article, $30 is the Application Fee, plus a $35 Execution Fee for first time applicants (the target audience for this policy).

I’m a conservative and I’m fully onboard with this.
Yes, it ties in nicely I with the daily Oath to the Flag required in schools.

It seems the main reason for the free-of-fee ID cards is making sure no foreigner votes here - although we know that hardly ever happens.
I completely endorse this intelligent and balanced approach to immigration policy.

This plan is genius and exactly what is needed. It steps right in front of the globalists agenda for total ID control of all aspects of our lives.
“this proposal removes the incentives and nullifies the arguments of those people who’ve been urging universal mandatory I.D.s or vaccine passports.”
Brilliant!
I really wish we in Canada had leaders with this creative genius to address our seemingly intractable problems!
It is truly genius. And exactly what the country needs! It's brilliant and unifying.

Issue the passports at no cost to everyone.
I like it
Thanks!! I like this idea!

In Australia we all carry Medicare cards that can be used to score points in identity matching. No photo, but our driving licences have those.
