At this point, so what if Bobby is a "spoiler". We need change and I say, this is what we need- attention to the fact that democracy as it is supposed to be is disappearing. Harris will not bring it back and will lose any semblance of what is left. It has been too many of my years of this hatred and I am over it.

You are assured of change in ANY case. We need clarification and that happens only with certainty and direction. People with talents need to be placed where their talents are best explored. That is going to happen. Depend on it.

You are not the only person "over it" some of us were over it 25 years ago.

If Bobby is taking away more votes from Trump than he is taking from Kamala then why is the DNC/democrats so hellbent of suing him? What do they know that we don’t know? Wouldn’t that be a good thing for Kamala et al? Especially since they believe they have the winning ticket and Bobby can’t win?

The DNC knows Bobby can win, that he isn’t a puppet and to keep their hands on the money pot, they have to keep Americans doubting him. It’s ever more proof of needed change and Bobby is the only candidate up for the task. The vastness of the DNC propaganda reach has to be clipped - how to do that and get Americans to hear Bobby? The debates. He must be included!

no they realize he is bleeding votes from their goons

it really is that simple

Because it is possible he may make take electoral votes from a state that was to go the Demoncrats. Imaging in Maine or some state where itis not winer take all and he grabs an essential elector - making it impossible for the Democrats to have enough electroral votes. Just a theory.

So if DJT is "so far ahead" then why would DJT call Bobby, offer him a cabinet position, want his endorsement, and for him to drop out, then want him to go to the RNC to give a "unity" speech, and then ghost Bobby, Oh and get angry when Joe Rogan "supports" a lot of Bobby's views on his social media (Trump's respond to Joe was a tantrum)...all to say, if Trump is "so far ahead" why is he sweating Bobby? And if he thinks he's better then why doesn't he debate him on stage. He called for Bobby to receive secret service protection, that was nice of him. Why not be a nice guy and tell Fox News “I want to debate RFK Jr”. once and for all to prove that he is the best choice?

Your reasoning is seriously flawed, clearly you read the fake news.

What you might consider is looking at a few recent T rallies instead of the fake news echo chamber. It has never been different, the support has magnified with every witch hunt, every prosecution, every "conviction"

Now the failed assassintion. Consider the state of the country before Bidenista regime. If that does not wake you, continure to sleep.

If you do not know the best "choice" by now good luck...

I read the NPR interview, the broadcast version of which was less than 10 minutes long, being surprised they would talk to him at all. This was the day after the Trump/Biden debate and a lot has happened since then. But I was struck by this exchange:

"RFK Jr.: I've been on the road for 13 months and hundreds of rallies during that period. I didn't see NPR at any of them. (Editor's Note: NPR's Stephen Fowler attended and reported on RFK Jr.'s comedy show in Nashville[May 2024])"

Kind of says it all right there, doesn't it?

US democracy has taken a truly catastrophic turn, the final result of the 1963 coup against JFK. Time to change all that.

Another very thoughtful column from Keala Kelly. Superb recounting of events and analysis, which brought together so many important points in a compelling and accessible manner. I loved the illustration of the rocket/missile with the U.S. Capitol as the nose cone — kind of says it all. Brilliant!

Thank you, Liz, for your thoughtful analysis of the story. And yes, we have truly talented artists working with our dedicated writers and editors. Glad you noticed.

The false analysis of weapons creating jobs is that they are capital inefficient - the bombs, one made, are not producing or creating anything.

A truck or a tractor or a plastic injection molding machine - these are assets that create something for years to come. A bomb is worthless when in storage and more worthless once exploded. Knowing this, these creeps argue "We are creating Jobs" . No they are creating enormous debt and wasting precious capital. Worse, they are pissing off regimes that have or will have nuclear bombs.

I fear this may not end well and we need RFK or Trump - anyone in my opinion - to stop the theft of this country by the Democrats. If they win again, and somehow get the house and senate, the laws they will pass will assure they are the single party rule for years to come.

In such a case, our future is serfs and slaves and perhaps even cleaning up our flattened cities from and Iranian or Chinese or Russian nuclear attack. Sorry to be so morose, however these democrat power seekers are in fact evil fools.

Indeed, the Ds are truly evil, but never underestimate the ability of the Rs in this regard.

Begs clarification. Whatever the Dem party has devolved into is fascist and it must be destroyed as the Republic has already been taken.

Further clarification is the fact that the RINO majority of the Publicans are even worse

but that swamp has consistently been drained by DJT. Not saying it is ready to build on just pointing out that career swampers are running for cover. Dozens have been primaried or lost on re election.

Therefor it is really dangerous to error in the land of equivalency suggesting that

"they" are different sides of the same coin.

Expand full comment

With all due respect, during DJT's first two years in office, how did he and the Rs in Congress un-do any of the fascist crap that had been done by Obama? They didn't. They also didn't slow down spending, instead it skyrocketed under DJT, and Brandon has continued that, so that now the nation is $35T in debt (it was $20T in 2016). And then there is the nearly dictatorial manner in which DJT conducted business during the Covidiocy in 2020. I am by no means defending the Ds, but the Rs track record in terms of getting the country back in the right direction is dismal. They talk a great line, but when it's time to actual act, they tend to be spineless. The greatest thing that DJT accomplished was appointing three reasonable justices to the Supreme Court. That was huge. And both the Ds and Rs clearly want nothing to do with a viable third party candidate, and both parties have done their share to block RFK Jr. (although the Ds have done much, much more to block Bobby).

Basic fundamental error in reasoning. You start by assuming DJT was a Pub.

He was not just flew under that banner. He was an uber successful buisnessman and the economy was thriving.

Please stop with the greatest thing assertion. Waking up the sleeping public is and was the greatest thing. That has now occurred.

The reason the Dems are outed has 1000X more to do with DJT that RFK.

Further he has also outed the RINOS part of your first mischaracterization.

Debt is owned to some entity. Fraud vitiates debt, put that in yer pipe...

Dictorial manner?? nah Dingo, alpha male making the best possible decision of really bad ones. That language is pure Dem. In any case he is so far ahead he is uncatchable and RFK definitely knows this. Beaconites (have been studying them for months)

they are former Dems off the plantation with one foot in the fake news and "polls" and the other cheerleading. Very few great assessments here...

Mr. Kennedy talks peace when it is about Ukraine. The conflict in Ukraine brings us close to WW3 indeed.

But Mr. Kennedy also talks about "unconditional support" for another country trying hard to start WW3 - Israel (this is even more likely to happen due to recent events).

How is that better?

Yet again, The Kennedy Beacon has provided a remarkably lucid explanation of our numbing national crisis. We citizens are well past the time when we can afford to senselessly jabber on instead of DOING something. We could 1) widely circulate this essay and all issues of the Beacon 2) call FOX repeatedly at 888-369-4762 and urge them to include Kennedy in the presidential debate 3) repeatedly contact (sometimes in person) TV and newspaper offices and let them know that "We're not gonna take it anymore." And those who are reading this could share other ideas! The MSM are making a mockery of the United States Constitution and We the People obviously have a serious obligation to resist their oligarchic chutzpa. The first-rate Kennedy Beacon deserves wide distribution that would help it generate meaningful discussion and activity. RFK, Jr. is dramatically more intelligent, more decent, more genuinely concerned about "the American people" than any of the individuals incessantly foisted off on us. He has the courage to criticize America's inhumane military budget. And the courage to expose the insidious influence of reptilian corporations. If he's elected we might have a chance. If he isn't, we don't.

Bollocks. We have delegates, and this is EXACTLY (all caps)how the RNC would appoint a replacement should Trump stroke out on the turlet today in furious mid-tweet. Aside from that, I do like Kennedy’s support for social spending over military.

Mind you, I’d prefer a popular vote democracy, and not our mess of a representative republic, but we take the bad with the good. Bad: Bush beat Gore while losing the popular vote. Trump beat Clinton while handily losing the popular vote. Good: we have a relatively smooth presumption of a Harris candidacy after Biden decides not to run. If this happened in the GOP, they’d devour themselves in cannibalistic infighting that could truly cripple the system. Further, if we had an emergency primary, since states run elections per the Constitution, it would be something like Colorado v Trump, multiplied by every red state in the US. That would open us up to all kinds of trouble, including coup.

The bad. The good. Our republic.

Yes and even if the Republicans appointed a replacement this way it would also be wrong and anti-democrat. But they didn’t. The Democrats did.

One Important fact - It is not lost on me that the Dems prevented a contested primary. This means the democratic process was not really followed. They did this to keep Biden on hte ticket and then be able to play Kamila. This keeps the entire Biden - Kamela team in power and does not allow RFK or another governor to disrupt their inside game. There was no way Kamila could prevail in a contested primary.

The Trump / Biden debate was timed to get Biden out and Kamela in before the Democrat's convention. Rather smart to do it this way.

So, your analysis of what would the GOP do if Trump dropped out is actually quite different, as there was a contested primary for the GOP, and there is not setup to transition Trump out, although it almost happened with the bullets that were fired upon him - ironically before the Republican convention.

And that is where the conspiracy theories will feed for years to come!

I respectfully disagree wrt the Electoral College. It was conceived similarly to the number of US Senators each state has. The concept was to limit the ability of states with large populations to dominate the smaller states. If we elected the president by direct vote, those of us in small western states would probably not need to vote, because by the time our polls close the race would likely be decided. The red/blue maps tell the tale; large population areas typically vote D, rural areas typically vote R. Almost every effort to change the Constitution has created unintended consequences, and it is quite certain that eliminating the Electoral College would be a disaster for rural Americans and states with small populations.
