The Tik-Tok ban became a hot issue in Congress only after October 7 and the invasion of occupied Gaza by the IDF. Many congresspeople are on the record saying this. I find it curious and disappointing that you don't mention the Israel Lobby in your characterization of this issue, saying instead that it's only to oppose China. What is RFK's position on pro-Palestinian free speech on Tik-Tok?

such utter Hypocrisy RFK Jr just went anti First Amendment on FOX nwws saying it's Ok to censor and arrest students protesting Israel genocide by Israel on US campuses. he is a puppet of ADL AIPAC Netanyahu and does not belong in US office because he opposes the US Constitution which you have to swear to protect o take office seems he has forgotten MLK Civil Rights protest Vietnam Iraq BLM protests. strange how the only student protest he opposes is those again the slaughter of women children elderly famiiilies in Gaza & West bank ,.

I am strictly opposed to limiting the sources people can use to obtain information and entertainment.

First, we had the printing press and movable type. People tried to outlaw that!

Then we had book burnings, to reduce the amount of information available to people.

If the US had developed a tradition of being the Luddites, we would have stopped radio.

Every example above was because of disruption of the old way of doing things. Innovation should never be about restricting access and free choosing. But that's exactly what the small-minded in government are trying to do with this legislation.

As an addition show of its silliness, this legislation was originally supposed to force the sale/ban of TikTok 6 months after the President's signature. However, that timetable would have put it out of business shortly before the upcoming election. So it was changed to 9 months, so that the upcoming election would not be affected.

It shows you where their collective heads were.

I write a personal blog. It is small, with only a few subscribers. Occasionally, it gets hits from around the world but never develops much further than that.

When the state of Montana enacted legislation in the Spring of 2023, I jumped right onto the issue and within the space of six months posted seven articles slamming the action by the state. I have written more about TikTok than on any other single issue except Covid.

I am not a subscriber nor user of TikTok. I have only ever viewed a few videos on the medium. Nevertheless, for me, it IS a matter of free speech and encompasses the right of any and every single individual to participate in the conversation IF they want to. I hold that right dear and I will adamantly defend, not only my right, but also that of everyone else to exercise it.

Enough said. Here is a link to follow if you want to read what I wrote. If you don't, that is your prerogative.
