Seems this nation has placed every Indian behind bars fences etc their control is with their hierarchy the Indian nation that holds them back why are we not opening the nation to all? Why does America not help with the drug issues they are going thru too? Treatment centers need to be everywhere to kick the drug infiltration in our country! Another excellent column by Keala Kelly. I applaud The Kennedy Beacon for giving this Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) woman a voice here on this platform. Keala has been writing about Native issues not only in Hawaii and the US but also globally for many years and knows what she’s talking about. I always look forward to her columns.
I have believed since I was a child that the treatment of Native Americans in this country has been a tragedy beyond belief. One of the many things I admire about Mr. Kennedy is the way he has worked on their behalf, as did his father and uncle. That being said, Deb Haaland has been a great disappointment as Secretary of the Interior. Under her leadership, the BLM continues it's cruel, inhumane treatment of our wild mustangs and burros in favor of corporate cattle ranchers, oil, and mining companies that are using and decimating our public lands. The majority of Americans, over 70%, believe the horses should remain in the wild. Instead, the BLM uses helicopter round-ups to torture and collect them, where most end up in holding facilities which, though taxpayer funded, are inaccessible to the public. There are currently more horses in these places than in the wild. This agency is never held accountable and answers only to corporate interests. He continues to support the Israeli Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people without pause and with US Support and weapons. He is against a ceasefire as stated in the Times of Israel.
