Julian still deserves justice, which a plea deal does not provide. Nonetheless, I hope he can heal and enjoy his freedom and his family.

Fingers crossed this is the end of his legal troubles and he can begin a new phase of healing.

#assangeisfree #pardonassange Anyone believing that trump will pardon Julian should rethink. trump will do what he is told once in office. His administration is captured BIG TIME! $100 Million from a JAP makes it so!

And he had the chance to release him during his term and not only didn’t he, he added a bunch more charges and wanted him killed, like Mike Pompeo. We MUST elect RFK Jr for this and ALL the reasons.

If government can not operate openly, then it shouldn't be operating.

Justice is not forcing / pressuring people into making plea deals!

This again proves that our United States Government is a modern day Third Reich establishment. But I hope and pray that Julian Assange knows that the majority of people know that he is truly a great journalist in exposing what the United State Government has become. To get America back on track, we the people need to look at the choices we have for putting a more honest and caring person in as President, and I think the true path and real change would be to help getting Robert F Kennedy Jr. in as President. We need to clean up the two party ( Democrats and Republicans) system as they both have brought this Country to the Brink of destruction.

After what Assange has been through during 13 years of persecution he can't be faulted for making this plea deal, but it's bad news for freedom of speech and of the press. It leaves a malignant precedent, not least of which is its endorsement of the world-wide reach of the empire of lies and war crimes in contriving judicial punishment of its enemies, the truth tellers.

If the deal goes down as agreed and reported, Assange will appear tomorrow in the US District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands--didn't know we had a federal district court in Saipan?--to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate the Espionage Act of 1917. Yes, the government loves conspiracy theories when it uses them to punish people for revealing government crimes.

There's a lot here but I'm mostly disgusted he had to plead guilty...

It's definitely not a perfect outcome, but certainly better than being locked up. The struggle to return to a nation of free speech continues.

Ecstatic to finally see Julian Assange outside prison, with fressh air and sunshine and ,soon, his family around him.

Livid that he was forced to take a plea deal to save his life. There are very many people - both order-givers and functionaries - in both countries who still need to be dealt their just deserts. Their time is coming.

Kennedy added, “Next steps: 1. The USG should build a monument to Assange in Washington as a civics lesson for the American public about the importance of free speech. 2. Free Edward Snowden to demonstrate our commitment to government transparency. 3. Free Ross Ulbricht to show our commitment to transactional freedom.”

Good statement. I'd repeat this while campaigning.

If Trump returns to the White House he too will no doubt pardon Assange ... last time he tried to Mike Pompeo and the Establishment Republicans threatened to join ranks with the Democrats and impeach him on J6 ...

Expand full comment

Trump hates the press and has often spoke of destroying it in many ways. Remember he is the swamp and saw the presidency as a business opportunity with impunity and immunity to do as he pleased regardless of the law or democratic principles which he clearly dismissed. He never would have released Assange and never wanted to do it. Further, no president operates in a vaccuum and without participation in the power elites collective policies they will be toast. JFK and RFK's assassinations are clear examples and warning to anyone who steps outside the pale. Any who wear that title of POTUS understand this is the job.

Expand full comment

Check your TDS levels ... he certainly was naive albeit in good faith about the likes of Mike Pompeo and the Establishment Republicans around him ... next time around they will be toast.

Ironically both Trump and RFK jnr are on the same side, pushing back against the elites ... if we want success against the elites both are sorely needed ...

Don’t believe that for a minute. Trump already had his chance. He is the same self-serving person he was the first time around, and doesn’t have the attention span or discipline to do his own research and stand up to his bureaucrats. He got rolled again and again…think Covid. Which is why the establishment uniparty would actually rather have Trump than Kennedy. And why we need to elect Kennedy to break up the establishment and actually drain the swamp instead of filling it with swamp creatures as Trump did with the likes of John Bolton.

John Bolton is one of the greater swamp creatures ... !!!

You are right that Trump was overwhelmed by Republican swamp creatures ...

Although I do not think RFK Jr would be elected President, I would be delighted.

Given your inability to converse without ad hominems or gaslighting, I am sure your problem is the lack of honesty about what you are really seeing and hearing, Trump being one example of your cognitive dissonance maintaining those blinders. Trump has never been opposed to the 'elite' except when they didn't bow down to his tyranny.

Your statement "Trump hates the press and has often spoke of destroying it in many ways. Remember he is the swamp and saw the presidency as a business opportunity with impunity and immunity to do as he pleased regardless of the law or democratic principles which he clearly dismissed." is nonsense.

Hence your TDS.

It is not possible to have a rational discourse with anyone who is blinded by an emotional dislike of Trump.

Can you list specific instances were he acted with "... impunity and immunity to do as he pleased regardless of the law or democratic principles"?

How would you describe the actions of those who conspired to remove Trump via RussiaGate et al?

I would use your words that they acted with "... impunity and immunity to do as [they] pleased regardless of the law or democratic principles"?

Personally I am drawn to the personality of RFK jnr rather than Trump, I was unable to stomach a single episode of "The Apprentice" like I cannot stomach most CEOs and their boards of executives, hence my time in Corporate Serfdom was very limited, all that bowing and scraping to their lordships and ladyships is just not in my DNA ... I doubt I would last a sec in the employment of Trump, one hint of a superior attitude and I would pack up and go ...

But a POTUS is supposed to act constitutionally on the "will of the people" as it has manifested in free and fair elections, which is only possible with electoral integrity i.e. only those who the constitution says can vote, can vote.

The personality of POTUS is then irrelevant.

Why do Trump supporters rationalize Trump's egregious actions the same way Democrats support Obama. Trump is a "victim" here by using the same reasoning Democrats did when asked why they were upset when Bush started war but not upset when Obama expanded war exponentially: "Obama's a nice guy. He's just under a lot of pressure." Trump has no excuse for not freeing Assange and Snowden.
