Maybe Bobby can sue his way into the White House and sue to get our freedoms and protections back. Finally, a candidate who knows the law and is willing to fight to see it enforced.

I note it's only a partial victory, as the Utah state legislature has to approve the extension.

While I am pleased the deadline has been extended in this case, I would hope the campaign is using this opportunity to open up the ballot state by state to independent candidates going forward and not just winning a special one time extension. Further even in a state with low population, 1000 signatures is not an especially high bar or onerous task.

I am glad that he was successful, but 1,000 signatures from registered voters is a tiny barrier. Can someone explain why this is such a big victory?

The requirement is more like 2,000 signatures (because many get disqualified). The collection period is during a time when it's hard to get volunteers because people are busy with the holidays or because standing on a street corner in December is kind of cold; the collection period is a rather short period of time, and the deadline is months ahead of any other state. It can be done, but it might require hiring a third party company to do it. Do we want only candidates with money to get on the ballot? His volunteers will easily get this done with the longer deadline.

Good points. Thanks for the explanation.

You wouldn't have had this issue if you went libertarian.

But hey , if you like spending money on lawyers for more states, you do you.

I respect and relate to the Libertarian party platform, but if your consistent guilt tripping and disdain in all the comments is at all a reflection of Libertarianism, then I am grateful he did not limit himself to the demands of such a party.
