Take a petition around and collect signatures too!

Awesome! It's clear that this kind of leadership on this element of the campaign is sorely needed. Great to see AV24 step up!

I guess this will be for the campaign to decide, but in TX and CA it takes fewer signatures to start a party than to get an independent candidate on the ballot. In FL, it takes no petitioning at all to start a party (although there are some legal hurdles) but it takes 145,040 petition signatures for a candidate. In NC, where I live, an independent candidate needs 82,188 by Mar. 5, while a party needs only 13,865 by May 17. The campaign is holding off starting petitioning here, pending a decision on which way to go on this.

Do you have any idea how many on the left have stopped supporting you because of your

attitude of total support toward Israel no matter how many they kill? You have basically lost

your main support group of intelligent aware people on the left who were so excited to be

able to have a good candidate finally. Leave Israel behind please and let them sort it out. Link

up maybe with Jill Stein in the VP slot and you are literally unbeatable. But as is and with what

slaughter is going on over there of women and children, you've negated your whole campaign.

We are all so sad to see you do something utterly foolish like this.

So let me get this straight:

People that ONLY subscribe to your beliefs = Palestine good/Israel bad = intelligent aware people. Part of the "from the river to the sea" clan. Got it. You'd have fit like a glove in 1938 Germany.

no rfk jr is. israel is good/palestine is bad according to him. he is going against his own platform. i've heard him say many times over and over again that we have to lose the trope of good guys and bad guys and use negotiation not war. so what happened???

This is easy then. Vote for Biden.

He was shoved down the throat of democrats once, that was enough.

Expand full comment

Well.....that looks like your only option if you are a Democrat. Of course, I know many Dems that openly state they'll vote for Trump if it comes down to Biden/Trump.

there's no one person running that is any good or will change the status quo. rfk, jr i though offered promise. now i really don't think so.

You need to do more research.

On one hand, I'm happy that I may have the chance to vote for RFK in the state of California. On the other hand, from the few polls I've seen at the state level, it's one of the states where he seems to be doing the most poorly. This doesn't surprise me. Californians like to think of themselves as ahead of the curve but but it's really a state filled with sheeple. The only chance he has in California is if he can somehow wake the sleeping giant of non-voters. Same for New York.

My reaction, too. I'm surprised that Pennsylvania is excluded, as I would think it fertile ground, much more than NY. I don't know the requirements for ballot access in PA, but I, an undecided voter, would be glad to get REAL signatures, as we need a choice.

Expand full comment

The article states that "the states were chosen due to the complexity of the state election codes and the volume of signatures necessary to achieve ballot access".

In a nutshell, Pennsylvania's ballot access process is:

"Presidential candidates of minor parties and political bodies may obtain ballot access for the general election by filing with the secretary of the commonwealth no later than the 2nd Friday subsequent to the primary an affidavit of candidacy, a $200 fee, and nomination papers containing the signatures of 5000 qualified electors.

A minor political party is a party whose statewide registration is less than 15% of the combined statewide registration for all statewide political parties and otherwise meets the criteria of a political party. A political body which is not a political party but has nominated candidates by nomination papers is a political body."

(Source https://www.nass.org/sites/default/files/surveys/2020-07/research-ballot-access-president-Jan20_0.pdf. More details will be on your Secretary of State's website).

Compare that to a state like Texas requires 113,151 petition signatures of registered voters who did not vote in the presidential primary of either party.

Thanks for this. I was lazy. But it leaves my question unanswered - if PA requires only 5,000, why not PA?

Expand full comment

Why not PA? I'm guessing it's because 5,000 signatures is not a high bar to reach in a state which has over 8.6 million registered voters. That's only six out of every 10,000 voters, so the campaign probably feels they can collect that many signatures + a good safety buffer without having to spend money to do it. I have no inside knowledge of this. I'm just making an educated guess based on what I read in the article.

I haven't looked at the requirements for all of the states selected, but California for example requires 1% of all registered voters, and Arizona requires a number equal to 3% of registered voters that are not registered to a recognized party (essentially independents) which comes out to a little over 1% of all registered voters.

Does that answer your question?

Expand full comment

Sure does. It proves I'm not thinking correctly. The article referenced allocating spending. One wouldn't have to spend much for 5,000 signatures. And he doesn't need to be on the ballot for the primary election next April. I'm fussing over a non-issue.

Florida willNOT put him on the Primary ballot and you cannot write in his name-even if you are registered as an Independent. What does that mean for the General Election? Florida is horrible, Cansomebody please respond to me?

Expand full comment

As an independent, he will not run in the Primary. Each state has a process for getting independent candidates on the ballot, and when they successfully complete that process, they will be on the General Election ballot. From a 10,000 ft. level, Florida's process is:

"An unaffiliated presidential candidate, and a presidential candidate of a minor political party that is not affiliated with a national party holding a nominating convention, may obtain ballot access for the general election by filing with the department of state no later than July

15th a petition signed by 1% of the registered electors of the state. The party or candidate must file with the department of state no later than September 1st the names of the presidential electors."

More details should be available on your Secretary of State's website.

This interview with Jeffrey Sachs and Link Lauren was riveting. It was a comprehensive review of the Ukraine crisis with, for me, powerful new information despite the many interviews I have seen and heard.

Especially the brazen scuttling of “almost” peace negotiations by BOJO on behalf of JOBI. We kind of knew but the details were missing. One comes away from this account of the facts with frustration, horror and disgust. This was NOT in OUR NAME. Let our new Speaker know: STOP funding this atrocity. Where’s your head, Mike?

One comes away with the unavoidable conclusion that Bobby MUST be our next President. Jeffrey would be a dynamite VP. Just sayin’. Or Secretary of State. Whatever he wants to do! There are some “must haves” in the new administration.
