“This Whole Town Is a Crime Scene”: Kennedy Slams Federal Agencies as “Captured” for Failing to Investigate East Palestine, Ohio, Train Derailment

On Wednesday, Fox News correspondent Martha MacCallum interviewed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and a panel of residents from the area around East Palestine, Ohio, where on February 3, 2023, a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed and locals reported health concerns.

Kennedy is working with a law firm that is filing claims against Norfolk Southern and the federal government. One resident reported that he now has cancer and is enduring surgery and chemotherapy. Residents voiced concerns about the future of their community and the health of their children. The residents questioned the validity of safety testing being conducted by government agencies.

President Biden visited East Palestine for the first time on the one-year anniversary of the disaster. One resident criticized Biden because he promised to make sure the community continues to get assistance. The resident stated, “We haven’t received any assistance.”

On Fox News, Kennedy asked, “Why isn’t the attorney general investigating this and filing criminal charges?” 

Kennedy added, “This whole town is a crime scene…. I would love to see President Biden come in and say this happened because of a failure of government. This happened because these agencies [that are supposed to have oversight over train companies] are captured. They are corrupt…. I’m going to expose the people and fire the people who are not doing the proper testing. I’m going to prosecute the people who are responsible at the outset instead of a vague promise that we’re going to take care of everybody.”

The East Palestine residents nodded in agreement.
