On Sunday, Oct. 8, the Children’s Health Defense (CHD) bus tour arrived in Long Island, New York. According to its official website, the 42-foot long bus, emblazoned with the words “Vax-Unvax – The People’s Study,” has been touring across the continental U.S. collecting stories from the vaccine injured, “including but not limited to COVID-19 shots or hospital protocols” and giving “voice to those who have been censored and ignored by governments, health agencies and the medical system.”
The CHD bus continued its tour in Bridgewater, New Jersey on Oct. 9 and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Oct. 11, two days after Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s historic speech announcing his run as an independent candidate for U.S. president.
Michael Kane, an organizer at American Values 2024, previously worked as a grassroots organizer at CHD. He spoke to The Kennedy Beacon about the importance of the CHD bus tour.
“The bus is collecting stories of those who were injured by vaccines as well as those who lost their jobs because of their refusal to take the shots,” he said. Kane, a former special education teacher at a New York school, formed Teachers for Choice to spearhead the medical freedom movement after he was laid off for refusing to adhere to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, CHD does not endorse political candidates. However, the CHD bus events have been a great melting pot of ideas for like-minded individuals, many of whom are Kennedy supporters, and others who are learning more about his presidential campaign.
From activists waving Kennedy 2024 banners on the roads to people donning hats and t-shirts endorsing Kennedy, the nearly six-hour-long event in Long Island had over 100 attendees, according to Kane. These events help those who are unaware of Kennedy’s policies gather information from supporters.

Kane has been a part of this movement for a long time. And now, he claims to see a “major shift” in the voting landscape. While he thinks there is enormous excitement to keep tabs on Kennedy’s run by people who do not support the DNC, a growing number of Trump supporters seem to view Kennedy as a threat. As a Democratic candidate, Kennedy would have taken votes solely from Biden. However, with Kennedy running as an independent, Republican voters appear to be apprehensive of the support that Kennedy could draw from their own base.
“The truth is, people are scared. They don't know what to think. They've never seen the independent third party candidate as strong as this guy since Ross Perot and the truth is Bobby's way stronger than Ross Perot ever was,” said Kane, referring to the American business tycoon, Henry Ross Perot Sr. who ran as an independent candidate in the 1992 presidential election and as the Reform Party candidate in 1996. Perot is considered one of the most successful third-party presidential candidates in U.S. history.
Kane himself is “thrilled” about Kennedy’s independent run. “I'm personally so thrilled and proud of the integrity Kennedy holds,” he told The Kennedy Beacon.
Kane mentioned the DNC snub of Bernie Sanders, “When Bernie Sanders was marginalized and treated terribly, and the Democratic primary was stolen from him, all he did was endorse the thieves. All he did was help the crooks and the criminals.”
Kennedy, however, refused to run in a “fixed election” which elicited a statement from Kane, “Kennedy is not Bernie Sanders.”
He added, “Kennedy is a moral politician, which is an oxymoron nowadays. And he's not going to give up no matter what, he's not going to let obstacles stand in his way. So I'm thrilled about it.”
Kane expressed his unwavering support for Kennedy. “I'll support Bobby wherever he goes, however he does this. It just shows me that he's really serious about becoming the next President of the United States,” he said.
The CHD bus will host events in over 30 states before wrapping up its “Vax-Unvax – The People’s Study” tour in Austin, Texas on June 7, 2024. The CHD’s second annual health conference, “Rise & Resist” will be held Nov. 3- 5, 2023 in Savannah, Georgia. Health freedom advocates from around the world will have the opportunity to discuss ideas and gain knowledge from a panel of experts. The keynote address will be given by CHD Founder, Chairman and Chief Litigation Counsel on Leave Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The CHD bus events scheduled in Charlottesville, Virginia on Oct.16 and in Virginia Beach on Oct. 18 have been canceled. Instead, the bus will go to Winston-Salem in North Carolina on Oct. 28 and continue its journey across the states.
