BREAKING NEWS: As Relentless Media Assaults Against Kennedy Spike, AV24 Co-founders Tony Lyons and Mark Gorton Push Back
By The Kennedy Beacon
Relentless media assaults against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his campaign, and the American Values2024 super PAC (our funder) have been flying fast and furious over the last seventy-two hours as fears mount that Kennedy represents an existential threat to Democrats and Republicans.
AV24 super PAC co-chairs, Mark Gorton and Tony Lyons, are pushing back against this onslaught.
Gorton, referring to the Democratic National Committee, told New York Magazine: “They have hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal and they’re willing to play dirty and they consider RFK Jr. to be a very significant threat and they’re desperate.”
Gorton also appeared on Fox:
Lyons issued a press statement late Tuesday:
“Recent days have seen many inaccurate and misleading news stories about presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy, Jr.,” Lyons states. “Any claims or allegations about RFK Jr need to be put into the larger context: The uniparty elites have been shocked to their core by Kennedy's high polling numbers.”
The statement continues, “With between 20 and 24 percent of the vote, which equates to 35-40 million voters, Kennedy poses an existential threat to the greed and corruption that have dominated DC for a generation. We are all witnessing a peaceful, populist revolution that is gaining traction. With that comes some desperation on the part of those in power. The Biden administration has advanced false claims about Kennedy, and has repeatedly denied him secret service protection even though he clearly qualifies for it.”
On the DNC, Lyons says, “The DNC has hired a powerful law firm to contest Kennedy's ballot access – state by state. This comes after the DNC did everything in its power to make it impossible for Kennedy to run as a Democrat. RFK Jr has been vilified, defamed, and de-platformed by his political and industry opponents. Immense pressure has been exerted against political operatives who work for Kennedy, people who endorse him, media personalities who interview him, and platforms that post his appearances. But the American people are not being fooled. They want a fair election, they want new options, they want debates, and they are desperate for a president who is mentally and physically healthy, authentic, and has integrity.
Lyons’ statement concludes: “Bobby Kennedy is also committed to protecting our freedom against government and corporate propaganda and control. Americans by the millions are tired of being told what to do, what to think, what to read, what they can (and cannot) say, what to put into their bodies – and who to vote for. They want free and spirited debate in the marketplace of ideas. They want to see the leading candidates on stage describing their values and their policies. And they are growing more and more tired of the political and news media games that disenfranchise them and derail democracy. Every time you are skeptical of some new media slur against RFK Jr, you are probably right – a fact that was particularly glaring in this week's media assaults.”
When writing about the American People as an electorate, please consider using the descriptors "we, us, and our" rather than "they." They implies separation between a candidate and the electorate, in this case, American voters for President of the United States. "We, Us, and Our" suggests that the candidate is "one of us" and that the candidate feels kinship with all Americans. As a political and public affairs consultant of 40 years experience, I give this advice to all of my candidates. Best wishes for success to Mr. Kennedy. The nation is direly in need of fresh ideas regarding the future of the Republic.
Remember, Abraham Lincoln won the 1860 presidential election with only 39 percent of the popular vote. His opponents had splintered into three separate competing parties--the Democrats, the Southern Democrats, and the Constitutional Unionists. Lincoln was not even on the ballot in several states. Yet he won a majority of the electoral votes so was elected. Many people criticize the electoral system, but it's the system we have to work with, and it won't be changing any time soon. But it does give a candidate like Kennedy a window of opportunity. Nothing less than a totally committed effort from a massive grassroots movement can upend a corrupt system. But it can be done. It has been done before.
